National Outreach
While our main focus is in overseas outreach, Sunshine After Rain Ministries does not neglect the home shores. Since 1998, we have partnered with the ministry of Joni Erickson Tada to serve the disabled community. In 2006, underwriting for our first Affiliate Office in West Texas enables us to reach an even broader local community through the art of Gospel Clowning. Our office supports various non-profit organizations through special funding to address the immediate needs of local smaller ministries.
Joni and Friends
Since 1999, and over ten Family Retreat camps, summertime is funny business. What began as an MC for the Talent Show night and resident cheerleader, has grown to “Clown Co-ordinator” and manager of hundreds of costumes, hats, wigs, noses and a wide-array of face paint. Throughout the year, Sunshine After Rain Ministries scours thrift shops and garage sales looking for appropriate items for the Clown Station to be created into hats and costumes of joy! The children at camp spend free time dressing up and playing at “playing”. Our involvement with the DFW area ministry allows us to serve with Special Delivery teams delivering packages to those in the disabled community during the Christmas season. Through their international program Wheels to the World, we have helped deliver over 1000 wheelchairs in Romania, Bosnia, Cuba, Bolivia, China and Ghana.
Funny Faces Affiliate Office

Go West young “clown” may sound unfamiliar to you, but in 2006 under the direction of Janell Caldwell, our first division office was opened. We underwrite a small portion of the operating costs for this dynamic and vital ministry serving the communities of Weatherford, Grandbury and San Angelo. Financial assistance is used to build up the resources of the office as well as enable purchasing of supplies and equipment needed throughout the year. Along with participating in Family Retreat Camps since 2003, in 2005, Janell traveled to Latvia and held “clown school” during Summer Camp for orphans in the region. She also trained local missionaries in techniques of evangelizing using clown ministry.
Value a Life
Director and Founder Kimla Utt, has a passion for abandoned and neglected children in the community. In 2003, she opened her heart and her home to a child whose mother was incarcerated, and her life was never the same. Learning the deficiencies in the local Foster Parenting program for children at risk, she began to seek ways to meet needs and raise awareness in the local church. Value A Life (V.A.L. named after the young boy who lived with her over a year) began as a faith-based initiative to help families in the community get involved.
Ms. Utt has been an active participant over the years serving in various roles at the Joni and Friends Family Retreats for families affected by disabilities. Her ministry also reaches the refugee community with service and support for a Somali family through weekly interaction with the children, help with basic healthcare and education needs. Sunshine After Rain Ministries is pleased to be a part in reaching out through Value A Life and the passionate and committed effort of visionary Kimla Utt, to “value a life – one child at a time.
Dream Resale Store
In 2006, Adventure and Victory Ministries began with a vision to open a thrift store to serve disenfranchised and marginalized women of the inner city. Sunshine After Rain Ministries, provided a one-time seed gift to help bring this endeavor to reality.
